Problem Statement Hospital mortality is an essential quality indicator reflecting disease burden and care standards. There is limited data on causes and predictors of inpatient mortality in Northern Sudan, making it difficult to design interventions to reduce avoidable deaths. Justification Understanding mortality patterns and associated factors will guide hospital policies, improve clinical outcomes, and strengthen the quality of care provided. General Objective To determine mortality patterns and predictors among adult inpatients at Dongola Specialized Hospital. Specific Objectives 1. To identify the major causes of death among adult inpatients. 2. To describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of deceased patients. 3. To determine predictors of inpatient mortality. Methodology • Study Design: Retrospective cross-sectional study. • Study Area: Dongola Specialized Hospital. • Study Population: Adult inpatients who died during 2024–2025. • Sample Size: All recorded deaths during the period. • Data Collection: Data extracted from medical records and death certificates using a structured checklist. • Data Analysis: SPSS used for descriptive and logistic regression analysis to identify mortality predictors.
