The aim of this study is to evaluate liver enzyme levels among gold mining workers in Delgo locality, Northern State, Sudan, and to compare them with a non-exposed control group. A case–control study design will be applied. Blood samples will be collected to measure liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP, and GGT), and relevant occupational data will be gathered using a structured questionnaire. The expected outcome is to identify possible liver enzyme abnormalities associated with gold mining activities and to provide evidence that may support occupational health monitoring and preventive measures.

Participant confidentiality will be strictly maintained. Personal identifiers will not be recorded on data collection forms. Each participant will be assigned a unique code number. Data will be stored securely in password-protected files accessible only to the research team. All collected information will be used for research purposes only.
The study involves minimal risk to participants. Possible risks are limited to mild pain or discomfort during blood sample collection, such as slight bruising or temporary discomfort. All procedures will be conducted by trained personnel using standard safety measures
The study may help in the early detection of liver enzyme abnormalities among gold mining workers and increase awareness of health risks associated with exposure to mercury and cyanide. The findings may contribute to improved occupational health practices, safety measures, and preventive strategies for miners, as well as provide useful data for health authorities and policymakers.
